What the FDA page actually says
Withdrawal means the group that sent the request took it back.
The Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, lists the request for KPV as taken back. The page is dated April 22, 2026 and was checked on September 28, 2026.
Neither date tells us when the request was taken back; the page gives no date for that. FDA still prints its safety concern beside the KPV entry.
As of September 28, 2026, this listing gives no approval or permission to use KPV in a medicine made to order.
Taking back a request does not grant permission
Under federal rules checked on September 26, 2026, taking back a request does not make KPV an allowed ingredient for medicines made to order in ordinary pharmacies.
KPV has no official ingredient quality standard, is not part of an approved medicine, and is not on the list of extra ingredients allowed for that use.
FDA has a temporary policy for ingredients awaiting a decision, in a group called Category 1. It says it does not plan to act against pharmacies for using those ingredients if the policy’s conditions are met. That promise is about taking action, rather than giving legal permission. KPV is not in Category 1, so that policy does not cover it.
The review and the vote are different records
For the July 2026 meeting, FDA staff proposed leaving KPV off the list of extra ingredients allowed for medicines made to order in ordinary pharmacies.
As of September 28, 2026, the FDA had released no committee vote results for KPV.
The committee’s vote is advice to FDA; it does not change the ingredient list. Under rules checked September 26, 2026, FDA must use a separate process to change the list, including asking the public for comments.
