Look up a doctor in the medical board’s records
A state medical board makes doctors’ licence details and records of public actions against them available to read.
The Federation of State Medical Boards’ directory links to the state boards.
Match the full name. Check the licence status and any public action by the board.
A record showing no public action does not rate the quality of care.
The directory concerns doctors. For another type of licensed health professional, ask which state board keeps their licence record.
For a pharmacy, use the pharmacy board
Pharmacy licensing records are held by state boards of pharmacy.
The FDA—the US Food and Drug Administration—provides a page linking to state pharmacy licence searches.
FDA’s advice, checked September 17, 2026, is to avoid online pharmacies missing from the relevant state licence record.
A listing establishes a licence; it does not establish that every proposed product is appropriate.
Read a badge for what it actually checks
Compounding means making medicine to order. Accreditation means an outside organisation checked how the pharmacy prepares it. That check does not test every group of medicine made together, called a batch, or show whether it helps patients.
FDA registration does not establish product approval under the federal rule checked September 26, 2026.
For KPV, ask three things: is the pharmacy licensed, is it allowed to use this ingredient, and do studies show that it helps people? A badge cannot answer all of them.
